Instructions
  1. Soak channa dal in water for 2 hrs.
  2. Soak par boiled rice(pulungal Arisi) for 3- 4 hrs. Drain it and grind it in a mixer to a smooth paste.
  3. Soak dry chillies and garlic for 3-4hrs. Drain and grind to a smooth paste.
  4. Grind 1 cup of fried gram/pottukadalai to a smooth powder.
  5. In a large bowl transfer the grinded rice,Chilly and garlic paste,Soaked chana dal,Jeera seeds,asafoetida , salt and unsalted butter.
  6. Make smooth dough by adding grinded gram flour little by little.
  7. Finally add chopped curry leaves and mix well.Dough should not be sticky in hands.
  8. Make a small ball and using a paper towel make it flatten and thin on all sides.
  9. It will be very easy to take out from paper towel.
  10. Fry thattai at medium heat on both sides till it becomes golden brown.
  11. Tasty thattai is ready. You can store this in a air tight container for 1 month.
Recipe Notes

Adding curry leaves also enhances the taste. You can also add grated coconut 2 tblsp for this recipe.

You can also replace butter with oil.

You can also use readymade rice flour if you dont have pulungal arisi.But grinding gives better taste than readymade flour.
