Tasty Vazhakkai Bajji/Raw Banana Bajji is a favorite evening snack with tea, also while raining Bajji smell will tempt you have this with Tea & Chutney, It is a very easy and quick recipe which can be done within 10 to 15 mins. Raw banana fritters (aratikaya bajji) that are quite popular in south India, These deep fried snack served with Chutney & Tea.

Instructions
  1. In a mixing bowl, mix Besan flour, red chilli powder, asafoetida, salt and cooking soda. Add water little by little and mix well with a whisk and make a thick batter.
  2. After making the batter let it rest for 10 minutes before making bajjis. The batter should easily coat the vazhakkai, not too thick.Peel off the skin of the plantain with a peeler Slice them thin or medium thick as you wish using knife or a slicer.
  3. Heat oil in kadai ,dip and coat the vazhakkai and drop carefully in the hot oil.
  4. Fry them both sides until golden brown. Drain in paper towels.
  5. Serve hot with chutney and tea.
Recipe Notes

The batter should be in correct consistency as shown,if it is too thin batter Vazhakkai will not get coated properly,if it is too thick batter Vazhakkai will be coated more which does not taste good.

After the first bajji check for the salt and then proceed to make more bajjis.

The thickness of the vazhakkai is purely your choice, but make sure its not too thick, otherwise it will stay crunchy and not get cooked.
