Tasty Lemon Rice is very popular South Indian Variety Rice and it is very simple and easy to make. In Tamil Nadu they will call it as Elumichai Sadam, and in Karnataka they will call it as “ Chitranna and in Telugu “Nimmakaya Annam “ ,Lemon rice goes well with roasted potatoes raita, yogurt, Pickles ,chutney or kosambari. It is a great travel food and can be used for packed lunch. Today we will learn how to make lemon rice/elumichai sadam with easy and quick steps.

The health benefits of lemon include treatment of throat infections, indigestion, constipation, dental problems, and fever, internal bleeding, rheumatism, burns, obesity, respiratory disorders, cholera and high blood pressure, while it also benefits hair and skin care. Known for its therapeutic property since generations, lemons help to strengthen your immune system, cleanse your stomach, and it is considered a blood purifier.

Instructions
  1. Heat the oil in a pan add Mustard seeds,Cumin seeds, Urad dhal and chana dhal. After when it splutters add the crushed Garlic and saute till it becomes golden brown.
  2. Add in a cup of peanuts and saute for a minute.Then add in dry red chilles,green chillies and curry leaves and saute well.
  3. Add in turmeric powder and asafoetida and saute well. Then add in the lemon juice and Let it boil for 1 Minute.
  4. Add salt and fenugreek powder and saute well.
  5. Add in the cooked rice and mix well. Finally add coriander leaves and mix well.
  6. Tasty Lemon rice is ready to serve.
Recipe Notes



If you dont like peanuts, you can skip adding that.

If you dont have fenugreek powder you can skip adding that,it gives a unique flavor to the rice.
