- 1/2 Cup Coconut
- 1 Spoon Coriander Leaves
- 1 Tbsp Fennel Seeds (Sombu )
For Gravy
- 3 Tbsp Oil
- 1 Tbsp Mustard Seeds
- 1 Tbsp Cumin Seeds
- 1 Tbsp Fennel Seeds
- 1 No Onion ,Sliced
- 2 Tbsp Ginger Garlic Paste
- 1 No Potato ,Sliced
- 1 No Drumstick ,Chopped
- 1 No Brinjal ,Sliced
- 2 Nos Tomato ,Grinded
- Curry Leaves and Coriander Leaves
- Salt to taste

Instructions
- Soak Chana/Kondakadalai for 8 hours or Overnight and Pressure Cook it for 2-3 Whistles and keep aside.
- In a MIxer, Add Coconut 1/2 Cup, Coriander leaves and Fennel seeds and Grind it to a Smooth Paste.
- Heat oil in a pan add Mustard seeds,Cumin Seeds and Fennel Seeds and when it splutters add sliced Onion and saute well till it becomes translucent. Add curry leaves and Ginger Garlic Paste and saute till raw smell goes off.
- Add Turmeric Powder, Coriander Powder, Chilly Powder and Garam Masala Powder and saute well. Add Sliced Potato, Sliced Brinjal and Drumsticks and saute well for 2 Minutes.
- Add in required Salt and Grinded tomatoes and cook till all the vegetables are cooked.
- When the oil starts oozes out add in cooked Chana and boil for 5 Minutes.
- Then Add in the Grinded Masala Paste and required water and cook till the oil oozes out.
- Finally Garnish with Coriander Leaves.
- Tasty Chana Kolumbu is Ready to be served with Rice , Chapathi, Idli or Dosai.
Recipe Notes
- Soak More Chana overnight and you can store it in a ziplock cover for 2 months in Freezer.
- Chana Should not be cooked. If you forgot to soak you can use hot water and soak it for 1 hour and pressure cook it for 5-6 whistles.
- You can also use white chana for the same.
- You can add vegetables according to your wish.
