  1. Remove the outer petal and you can see a bunch of florets inside.Take the florets and remove the stamen and the small cover along with it .
  2. Take tender banana flowers alone, keep in water or butter milk until use to prevent discoloration.Wash and soak bengal gram dal (channa dal) and toor dal together for 3 hours.
  3. Take Dry chillies, Fennel Seeds ,5-6 Garlic cloves and 1 inch Ginger and grind coarsely.
  4. Then add soaked dals and grind again coarsely.
  5. Finely Chop the florets after removing the stamen and the white cover .
  6. To the chopped florets add Curry leaves,coriander leaves and green chilly and mix well.
  7. To that mixture add salt,asafoetida and turmeric powder.
  8. Then add coarsely grind dal, finely chopped Onion and rice flour.Mix everything well.
  9. Make even sized balls from the batter.
  10. Heat oil in a kadai and add a little batter, and check if oil is ready for frying.Once the oil is hot, reduce the temperature to medium.Take even sized balls and flatten it with your hands and form into a disc.Fry both sides until brown. Remove from oil with a slotted ladle and place on a paper towel to drain excess oil.Repeat the same process for the rest of the batter.
  11. Enjoy delicious vazhaipoo vadai and chutney with tea or coffee:)

Do not add water while grinding,but if your mixie does not grind add 2-3tsp of water

Rice Flour is added to give crispiness to vadai.
